Hershey's CACAO Reserve 65% cacao - Made in Pennsylvania
This chocolate is glossy and smells floral but subtle. It has a loud to moderate snap and has a smooth but uneven gradient. It is creamy and velvety with a moderate melt. I thought this chocolate was too sweet and not very interesting. It wasn't bad but there wasn't any complex flavors with it. It tasted a lot like milk chocolate. This chocolate gets a 5.1 out of 10 and overall is a very boring chocolate.![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiD_uADgRUVqNFAKGY8AqJPT2bawIjp5Zh8YwocgfpPY3tO_9OKGEX-6mSj3OfqErBm9BDxywiVcY3bn65hyFNySj0U1-iwhqQLUoUz4QGaOs_uhpDWplUDGpq-_MsI-Jy0dlpT-3-y_BFl/s320/hersheys+65.jpg)

I think perhaps the "Hershey" on the label skews the typical chocolate connoisseur opinion. I would be interested to see the writer's opinion if she were blindfolded. Admittedly, I am only a lover of fine chocolate, and have only tried chocolates from various places such as Paris, Vienna, London, Milan, Mexico, and of course, New York City where I live. I would say this chocolate is stiff competition for Jaques Torres and Martine's chocolates (custom chocolates here in Manhattan), and wins over Max Brenner, and easily beats, of course, Godiva. Its consistency gives a stiff break, but is extremely smooth, with a nice low melting point (indicating lower lecithin content). The typical powderiness of darker chocolates is extremely fine here and doesn't foil the experience. This is an extremely velvety smooth chocolate, which is a welcome change from the over-crystalized landscape of easily accessible chocolate. Of course, this chocolate is only 65% cacao so you can't expect it to be too bitter. It's going to be sweet, actually surprisingly sweet for 65%. I must say, however, the nibs bars are really a bad idea. The nibs ruin all the texture of the base and leave an unreasonably bitter taste in the mouth and nibs between the teeth. So if you like smooth, rich, dark, yet sweet, you'll like this. Don't succumb to chocolate snobbery.
Here ye! Here ye! The King is about to speak...
This chocolate is substandard and I would only feed it to the serfs of my kingdom. Hershey does make an interesting Jersey Shore chocolate that all should try at some point. Now I'm off to conquer new lands in search of only the finest chocolates...
The King has spoken!
I'm totally in agreement with satre stuelke. This stuff is delicious and refined. Totally unlike other Hershey's and more satisfying to me than the Lindt Excellence 70% I tried with it.
